Outstanding Nursing Students Honored during 2025 Pinning Ceremony

During ÌÇÐÄvlog’s 2025 Pinning Ceremony on May 19, along with recognizing the 48 graduates in the Class of 2025, nursing students were honored for exemplary performance awards in the Associate Degree Nursing program.

Marlena Means received the top Academic Student Award, which is based on total GPA in nursing program courses.

The Spirit of Nursing Award was presented to six students: Christine Leist, Argenis Hernandez-Rascon, Julia Van Gemert, McKenzie Feest, Mallory Lein and Teresa Meza. The award is presented on behalf of the Army Nurse Corps and the National Student Nurses’ Association (NSNA) to students who demonstrates a commitment to excellence through community, professional and academic achievements.

Means and Kristi Hennessy shared the Student Nurse of Achievement Award, which provides the recipients with a $2,500 scholarship.

Associated Students of Western Nevada (ASWN) Outstanding Student Awards in Nursing went to Mayra Servin, Andrea Freitas and Grace Edison. They were recognized for their impact with student government, Student Services and/or Second-Year Nursing Club involvement.

Feest and Edison also received the NSNA Award for their club commitment, leadership and commitment to and potential for excellence in the nursing profession and professional organization.
